CTS is a Barbados based technology leader that collects and unlocks the power of data insights to improve transportation and movement in the Caribbean. At our core, we are a team of Caribbean people working to improve our region. With a gap in the amount of data available, CTS embarked on a journey in 2015 to create products and services which solve problems created by these data gaps. Over the journey of creating data driven location based solutions; team CTS created several solutions for the Barbadian and Caribbean markets. Some of those were suspended or concluded, but all were part of the evolution of Caribbean Transit Solutions.
BeepCab
The 1st taxi booking app ever launched in the Caribbean. The product featured two applications: the Driver App and Customer App. BeepCab launched in June 2015 and presented a platform where commuters could hail their next taxi ride in minutes. Our company – Caribbean Transit Solutions focused on providing an ecosystem around transportation in the Caribbean region. BeepCab, similar to ‘Uber’, is a mobile taxi booking app which allows you to book taxis via your mobile phone. CTS didn’t just replicate Uber, we adapted the model to the idiosyncrasies of the Caribbean and poled the community to understand user needs on both sides.
In Barbados, only registered taxis provided the service; which offered customers the opportunity to pay by cash or card. A feature later implemented by Uber in various markets. Select from our list of locations and pay by credit card or forward us your transportation request and we can price and schedule prior to your arrival. Perfect for Corporate travellers, families, groups or persons with special requests! With BeepCab & BeepCab Concierge, we meet all your transportation needs. This product revolutionised and disrupted a sector which has long been considered a very challenging one. It offered the local Barbadian and tourist populations an alternative to standard hailing and streamlined operations for over 100 taxi drivers; providing them with direct access to customers.Throughout it’s lifetime, BeepCab and the CTS team won several awards, including ‘ Most Disruptive Start-Up’ from the Caribbean & Latin America.
In 2018, BeepCab’s operations were suspended due to market conditions and changes in the strategic overall company’s vision.
